Mohammed Bin Rashid Library Gifts 5,000 Books to UAE Armed Forces as Part of ‘A World Reads' Initiative
Dubai, UAE, 17 March 2025:
As part of its pioneering initiative, 'A World Reads', and in alignment with the Month of Reading, the Mohammed Bin Rashid Library has gifted 5,000 Arabic and English books to soldiers of the UAE Armed Forces. This gesture supports the library's overarching strategy and vision to foster knowledge and promote a culture of reading within the community.
Dr. Mohammed Salem AlMazrooei, Board Member at the Mohammed Bin Rashid Library Foundation, remarked: “This initiative is integral to our efforts to promote reading and cultivate a creative society that is prepared for the challenges of the future.”
AlMazrooei further added: “The Mohammed Bin Rashid Library firmly believes that reading is the cornerstone of development and innovation. We are convinced that investing in the minds of the younger generation and encouraging them to read will equip them to tackle today's pressing challenges, ultimately shaping them into effective leaders.”
In recognition of this initiative, the Ministry of Defence praised the Mohammed Bin Rashid Library’s significant contribution to the development of educational and cultural programmes. The Ministry also commended the library’s ongoing efforts to nurture a reading culture among the members of the UAE Armed Forces.
The “A World Reads” initiative is in line with the UAE leadership's aspirations to make reading a fundamental pillar of the nation's development. Since its inception in April 2023, the initiative has reached over 250,000 individuals across the UAE. To date, the Mohammed Bin Rashid Library has donated more than 80,000 books, both in Arabic and English, to nearly 200 institutions, schools, and educational complexes in both the public and private sectors.
The Mohammed Bin Rashid Library calls on local publishing houses, institutions, and public entities to contribute by donating any unused books and publications. These books will be distributed to visitors, including school students, event participants, as well as to school libraries and local institutions. Organisations wishing to obtain books in both Arabic and English may contact the library for further information.
