AUS and IEEE UAE Section collaborate to drive innovation and professional development
Sharjah, UAE, June 27, 2024 – American University of Sharjah (AUS) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) UAE Section to foster collaboration and technological innovation and enhance the educational and professional landscape for AUS faculty, students and IEEE members.
The agreement outlines the collaborative efforts between the two parties, with AUS partnering with the IEEE UAE Section to implement proposed projects. In turn, the IEEE UAE Section will invite relevant AUS faculty members to workshops and seminars, and collaborate in organizing competitions, scientific conferences and networking opportunities.
The agreement was signed by Dr. Tod Laursen, Chancellor of AUS, and Professor Hussain Al-Ahmad, Chair of the IEEE UAE Section, in the presence of Dr. Mohamed El-Tarhuni, Interim Provost and Chief Academic Officer at AUS; Dr. Fadi Aloul, Dean of the AUS College of Engineering; Dr. Hussam Al Hamadi, Vice-Chair of the IEEE UAE Section; Dr. Husameldin Mukhtar, Secretary of the IEEE UAE Section; Dr. Abigail Copiaco, Treasurer of the IEEE UAE Section; and other senior officials from both institutions.

Through this partnership, our students and faculty will have opportunities to engage with leading-edge research, pursue professional growth and connect with a dynamic network of industry professionals. This collaboration is a testament to our shared vision of driving progress and shaping the future of technology,' said Dr. Laursen.
