
Two GEMS Schools Win Prestigious Awards at Sharjah Awards for Educational Excellence
July 15, 2021: GEMS Education schools have been awarded with two prestigious awards at the Sharjah Awards for Educational Excellence for the Academic Year 2020-2021. The ceremony recognized one of GEMS’ outstanding students, in the Distinguished Student category, as well as the Parent Forum of a GEMS school in the Outstanding Parents Council category.
Trisha Nikhilkumar Sayani, Grade 8 student at GEMS Our Own English High School won the award for both her academic excellence and ambitious attitude.
Trisha said “I feel honoured to be a recipient of the prestigious Sharjah Award for Educational Excellence because recognises my efforts and gives me even more motivation to continue to aim for excellence in all that I do.”
Trisha’s Teacher, Miriam Johnson, commented: “Trisha is a go-getter who always strikes a perfect balance between academics and co-curricular activities. She has proven herself successful in varied events and activities through her sheer grit. She is a perfectionist in class who gives undivided attention to always learning as well as her responsibilities. She makes her presence felt during lessons through her inquisitiveness and thirst to explore unknown boundaries. She displays tremendous confidence during classroom discussions while sharing her opinions and interpretations. Her remarkable eloquence, punctuality and excellent organizational skills are worthy of mention.”
In turn, the Parent Forum at GEMS Millennium School won Outstanding Parent Council prize in recognition of its commitment and contribution towards the school in the last few years.
The forum comprises 27 core members and 150 supporting members and is Suguna Balakrishnan. It works closely with the school in planning, developing and implementing initiatives in order to provide a holistic and inspiring learning experience to the students.
Teresa Varman, Principal of GEMS Millennium School said: “The forum has passionately integrated the UAE National Initiatives in line with the school’s various activities. It is working single-mindedly towards further increasing the engagement of the parent community in realising the school’s goals and bolstering the partnership between home and school.”
The Sharjah Awards for Educational Excellence, held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, forms a tributary to support the educational field by honouring the educational community, as it works to stimulate creativity for public through all the award categories. The awards work in its composition to encourage excellence, honour and reward the distinguished, in order to contribute to building the nation and developing its citizens who are its foundation and future.
