• Distribution drive provided clothing items for over 100 children from Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah

May 23, 2021: To mark the season of giving, the Emirates Post Care Society joined hands with VFS Global, the world's largest visa outsourcing and technology services specialist for governments and diplomatic missions worldwide, to provide gifts to over 100 children of inmates of penal and reform institutions in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah.

Under the charity program, the children went on a shopping trip and were able to select clothing items as per their desire. For the safety of children and to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the shopping and distribution drive followed the precautionary measures approved by the Supreme Committee for Crisis, Emergency and Disaster Management in the UAE.

Dr. Muhammad Abdullah Al-Murr, Chairman of the Emirates Post Care Society, said: “The program is a continuation of the campaign that launched at the start of the last month. The goal of the initiative is to encourage the community and share the joy with those less privileged by bringing happiness to the hearts of children and support their families on the occasion.”

The distribution drive is in line with the association’s objectives and the UAE government’s directives to provide support and assistance to the target group – released inmates from the state's penal and reform institutions and their families.

On completion of the drive, Peter Brun, Chief Communications Officer at VFS Global quoted: “At VFS Global, we remain focused on supporting communities. The real celebration was to see the smile on the face of these children as they don in their newly shopped attires. By gifting children of inmates of penal and reform institutions, we aim to symbolize kindness and thoughtfulness through our contribution. “

Dr. Muhammed Al-Murr thanked VFS Global, headquartered in Dubai, for its contribution to the humanitarian work during the last month, spotlighting the importance of public-private collaboration to implement programs and activities that would contribute to empowering released inmates to return to a better and working life.
