Canon celebrates young campaigners with the Global Good Awards 2021
DUBAI, UNITED ARAB EMIRATES, 4TH APRIL, 2021 – Canon EMEA, the world’s leading imaging company, continues its sponsorship of the Canon Young Champion of the Year category at the Global Good Awards to highlight the achievements of young campaigners.
Canon is continuing its sponsorship of the Canon Young Champion of the Year Award category at the Global Good Awards in 2021, which recognises the achievements of young campaigners who have shown outstanding leadership in campaigning for social or environmental change.
Inspired by Canon EMEA’s Young People Programme, which seeks to give young people across the region a voice on sustainability issues that matter to them, the award aims to both celebrate those who are driving positive change and inspire others to do the same.
The free-to-enter category is made up of two classes – under 16s and under 21s – and is now open for entries, with entries closing on 21st May. Judges will consider applications from more than one candidate per entry, for example where groups or siblings have worked together to campaign for a good cause.
Photography or visual imagery is an important aspect of the submission process, with up to six captioned images required alongside up to 1,000 supporting words to tell the story. All finalists will receive tickets to the virtual ceremony and a certificate. The two winners will receive a Canon EOS entry level DSLR and finalists will receive a Canon SELPHY Square QX10.
Entrants may submit an entry for themselves if they are over 18, or alternatively they can be nominated by a parent, guardian, company, or the charity or organisation which they are working with. Please note that previous participants in Canon’s youth programmes or relatives of Canon employees are unable to enter. For full details of entry criteria, please visit the Global Good Awards website.
Last year’s winners were Bella Lack and Nicole Fernandes de Silva, who were commended for their projects raising awareness of environmental and societal issues. Read more here about last year’s winners shared their and their advice for new entrants.
