Dubai Municipality promotes technical development system at GITEX 2020
Dubai, 05 December 2020: Dubai Municipality is participating in GITEX 2020, which will be held at the Dubai World Trade Center from 6 to 10 December. The Municipality’s participation in the exhibition comes within the framework of its keenness to enhance the system of technical development and display the most prominent smart innovations and digital solutions that contribute to providing the Municipality’s services according to the highest global standards.
Dawoud Al Hajri, Director General of Dubai Municipality, said: “In Dubai Municipality, we are keen to embody the wise leadership’s directions towards harnessing smart and modern technologies with the aim of improving various services and providing them in an ideal manner to the members of the society, which is reflected in enhancing their happiness and satisfaction on the one hand, and ensuring that their needs are met on the other hand. Over the past years, the Municipality has kept pace with the most prominent global technological developments in the field of providing its various services to the public.”
He added: 'GITEX is one of the most prominent global exhibitions in the field of latest and advanced technologies in various fields. Dubai Municipality participates annually, through its platform in the exhibition, with the most prominent modern projects and technologies that embody the concepts and strategies of digital transformation.'
The projects presented by Dubai Municipality through its stand at the exhibition include the 'Dubai Here' system, which is an electronic system that works on the Internet browser or portable smart devices, and includes 2D and 3D maps that contain all assets, landmarks, infrastructure facilities, buildings, service units and networks, information on economic activities as well as environmental, health and population information.
The application is designed in a way that different and varied topics and maps can be added to it easily with user permission control, and therefore it can be used by various government agencies for different purposes. The system displays the maps from the comprehensive geospatial database that all parties contribute in feeding and updating them with maps and information related to them.
The Municipality is also showcasing the 'Dubai Horizons' project, which aims to plan the routes and locations of airports and helipads for drones in line with the Dubai Urban Plan 2040. The project also aims to support Dubai's future plans in the field of air mobility and provide new services in the areas of shipping, delivery, aerial photography and others.
The project also contributes to maintaining the security and safety of air navigation in the emirate, organizing the operation of drones and achieving optimal use of them in accordance with the best international standards and practices, and making Dubai a center for innovation in the field of air transport and in creating an environment conducive to investment in this important sector.
The Municipality platform at the exhibition also witnesses the display of smart devices for monitoring the quality of wastewater. It operates according to the latest smart systems by examining the percentage of pollutants in the wastewater in the main pumping stations. It will send the results of the examination via the Internet daily at the required times, track the sources of pollutants and take the necessary measures at the maximum speed.
The Municipality also displays a modeling and simulation system in wastewater treatment plants, which is based on simulating the treatment process currently present in the Jebel Ali and Al Aweer plants. The model simulates the treatment process based on the data and produces results showing the impact of any change on water quality and operating factors. This greatly contributes to measuring the impact before application and optimal operation of equipment and operating units, in addition to the possibility of using it in training and as a means of decision-making regarding the treatment process.
Dubai Municipality projects at the exhibition also include the central monitoring and control system for sewage stations, which is based on connecting sewage pumping stations and main treatment plants to a central monitoring system located in the main control room in Jebel Ali.
The central system aims to monitor operational indicators and control operations related to sewage stations in Dubai, by collecting and analyzing data on devices and equipment located at the sites, which helps in making effective strategic decisions in times of emergency.
The Municipality displays on its platform the smart environmental scanning vehicles, which are used in environmental inspection. The vehicles contain solar panels and sensors that monitor the air pollutants that cause odors, noise levels, electromagnetic radiation, and weather factors in real time. They are also equipped with smart panels to review the captured data in real time.
They support data analysis and identification of areas where air pollutants exceed the applicable environmental parameters, in addition to being supported by smart communication systems that link and store the captured data with the Municipality’s database. These vehicles have been equipped with 360-degree cameras to enhance the environmental monitoring processes.
The Municipality platform also exhibits the import and re-export platform in Dubai using emerging technology, which is an integrated smart system for controlling imported and exported food. It includes a set of systems developed using Artificial Intelligence features, and the foundations for providing smart review services for transactions without human intervention through the Artificial Intelligence platform. This will speed up procedures and increase the accuracy of the data by checking and comparing it with the relevant standards, and providing smart features that include automatic product classification, estimating the shelf life of products, smart registration of food products and evaluation of food products.
The platform also provides many features for employees and customers to facilitate and expedite procedures such as halal foods and organic foods, in addition to Block Chain features aimed at enriching the food field with the most prominent services and facilities needed.
