Dubai, UAE; August 17, 2020: The region’s largest full spectrum factory and warehouse automation solution provider, ACME Intralog has completed a 1000 square metre centralized kitting and order processing facility for Dubai’s International Humanitarian City (IHC), to help the various humanitarian organizations, operating within the facility, to quickly prepare aid kits in minimum time, to assist in disaster relief around the world.

ACME’s system has drastically improved IHC's capacity in terms of total kits prepared per day. From operating as a manual kitting center that could produce approximately 100 kits of relief supplies a day, the semi-automated system now offers IHC the means to produce approximately 1000 kits a day, without any increase in manpower.

According to Navin Narayan, CEO, ACME Intralog, “Covid-19 has made regional organisations re-think their approach to supplier procurement. When IHC decided to upgrade to a centralized kitting and order processing facility, it was the beginning of the Covid situation and, sourcing all the materials internationally for such a job would have caused delays. Since we are based in the region and able to provide all the elements of the semi-automated system, from accumulation roller conveyor systems, pallet conveyor systems to vacuum lifters and pallet stretch wrapping machine, we were able to take on the project at a short notice.”

He added: “IHC, being the largest humanitarian aid provider in the world, hosts members of UN organisations, intergovernmental organisations as well as commercial companies. Hence, the system to be provided, was required to be compatible to the requirements and processes of all its members, while maintaining high levels of efficiency and responsiveness to cater to the vast demands of global humanitarian operations. We envisioned a semi-automated system that is controlled by synergy of PLC programs and a user interface, thus enabling a single-operator controlled system.”

Through meticulous production planning, risk mitigation strategies, and their vast knowledge of market behaviour, ACME delivered the project on time.

The system drastically improved IHC's capacity in delivering aid. The quality check devices and procedures, now allow fewer errors in packaging and ensure a streamlined flow of operations for IHC and its members, thus vastly enhancing their response time to emergency humanitarian operations.
