Waterfront Market Focus' on Customer Safety by Increasing Health & Safety Precautions and Re-Opens its Fish Market

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 7 April 2020:   As an essential service to the public and trade customers, Waterfront Market, Dubai’s premier fresh food market, has been given permission by the authorities to re-open its Fish Market , and will resume business as normal for all its customers on  April 7th, 2020.

As part of its re-opening, Waterfront Market has implemented a range of precautionary health and safety measures in order to combat the spread of COVID-19. A dedicated team has been assigned to implement a 24-hour cleaning programme, which includes disinfecting and sanitizing all common areas in addition to their standard hygiene cleaning practices. Thermal cameras have been installed at all entrances to WFM to monitor staff and customer’s temperatures as they enter and numerous fixed hand sanitizer units have been installed at multiple locations in order to facilitate customers to keep sanitizing their hands regularly. All customers and staff will have to practice physical distancing, masks and gloves will be mandatory and only one family member will be limited to do the shopping, whilst children will be prohibited to enter. 

Mohammad Al Madani, Waterfront Market Manager said: “Waterfront Market is a state-of-the-art modern facility which incorporates first-rate hygiene levels into the design of the building and its operations. As we deal in fresh food health, safety, security and hygiene have always been our number one priority. In light of Covid-19 we have taken additional precautionary measures across the entire property to further ensure the health and safety of all our customers, staff and the wider community. We encourage our community to practice physical distancing and stay safe during these unprecedented times.” 

The Fish Market will be operational around the clock with deep cleaning and sanitization closures from 12:00 to 14:00:00 PM and 2 to 6 AM.

For the daily fish auction, Waterfront Market has installed thermal cameras to monitor the temperatures of all customers, and buyers must follow the physical distancing notices in order to maintain enough distance during auction activities. In addition, all staff working at Waterfront Market are being regularly checked by security for fever and any health issues and are instructed to wear face mask and hand gloves at all times.

Aside from Lulu Hypermarket, The Pharmacy, the Fish Market and the auction, all other retail outlets at Waterfront Market will remain closed until further notice. Restaurants at the Waterfront Market will limit their services to will be home deliveries.

Waterfront Market is working closely with the local authorities to ensure that they are following all the rules and regulations and will continue to review and reassess the situation with guidance from the government departments.
