Dubai – 21 February 2019: Dubai Customs provides distinguished services through its different centers including the Dubai Cargo Village Customs Center which deals with massive amounts of goods and personal belongings every day. Alertness and professionalism in dealing with this are very important to help prevent the entry of restricted and prohibited goods into the country.

Dubai Cargo Village Customs Center made around 308,000 declarations and dealt with 298 cases in 2018. These included 160 narcotics smuggling cases, 60 document counterfeiting cases, and 3 cases of smuggling items associated with the practise of witchcraft and sorcery.

During his evening tour to Dubai Cargo Village Customs Center, Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Director of Dubai Customs applauded the role inspectors at the center play in foiling any smuggling attempts. He highlighted the importance of keeping this momentum and to double the efforts of control to further protect the country.

Musabih was accompanied in his tour by Abdullah Mohammed Al Khaja, Executive Director of Clients Management Division at Dubai Customs, Khalifa Ateeq, Senior Manager of Dubai Cargo Village Customs Center, and Khalid Al Mouazen, Inspection Senior Manager at the Center.

“Dubai Customs moves forward steadily to realize its overall vision of becoming the world leading customs administration that supports legitimate trade. It’s a strategic priority for us at Dubai Customs to protect the society from the hazards of restricted goods and narcotics. Another strategic objective is to support the national economy and enhance its reputation, especially in supporting grand events such as Expo 2020” Musabih said.

Dubai Customs won at the 21st Edition of DGEP as the best department to support EXPO 2020. They have also launched the Authorized Economic Operator, one of the most valuable customs programs that streamlines trade and support big events like EXPO 2020.

Another facilitation tool will be the ATA Carnet which Dubai Customs implements to help beneficiaries, such as exhibitors at trade shows, to import their goods duty-free and tax-free for a limited period of up to one year. The entry permit lasts until the completion of the purpose for which the goods have been entered.

Director of Dubai Customs applauded the different activities and initiatives at Dubai Cargo Village Customs Center that contributed towards happier clients and, along with the efforts of other customs centers, helped Dubai Customs top the happiness index with 97.5%.
