Youth Circle takes place on sidelines of INLA’s 23rd Nuclear Inter Jura Congress

Abu Dhabi, UAE – 5 November 2018:   The Barakah Youth Council, comprised of employees from Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC) and its subsidiaries, organized a Youth Circle on the sidelines of the 23rd Nuclear Inter Jura Congress, taking place in Abu Dhabi this week. Entitled ‘Energy Gap – The Way Forward’, the Youth Circle welcomed VIP guests including Sheikh Hamdan Bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, along with international experts and students from Khalifa University to discuss the importance of developing peaceful nuclear energy, which will account for six percent of the UAE’s anticipated energy production by 2050, as outlined in the UAE Energy Strategy 2050.

The Youth Circle was presented by Sara Ali Al Fzari, Senior Business Excellence Specialist of ENEC and member of Barakah Youth Council, and moderated by Jassim Al Bulooki, Industrial Safety Specialist of ENEC, and member of Barakah Youth Council. The attending students from Khalifa University were provided the opportunity to learn from and engage with local and international experts including David Scott, Advisor to the Chairman of the Executive Affairs Authority of the Government of Abu Dhabi, Peri Lynne Johnson, Legal Advisor and Director of the IAEA Office of Legal Affairs, and Nasser Al Nasseri, Chief Executive Officer of the Barakah One Company.

Badreya Al Marzooqi, Radioactive Waste Management Engineer of ENEC and Vice Chair of the Barakah Youth Council, said: “Today’s Youth Circle is the result of ENEC and its subsidiaries’ commitment to providing young people with a platform to share their ideas and engage with energy leaders to shape the UAE’s future. It is a privilege and an honour to be a part of the Barakah Youth Council and to have the opportunity to organize events such as the Youth Circle today, which saw enthusiastic students from Khalifa University propose their own solutions to the UAE’s future energy needs.”

The Youth Circle was organized by the Barakah Youth Council, which was formed in August of 2018 to provide young employees from ENEC and its subsidiaries Nawah Energy Company and Barakah One Company with a voice to champion change and drive continuous improvement. The Barakah Youth Council also strives to engage with students from across the UAE to highlight the importance of the UAE Peaceful Nuclear Energy Program and its benefits.
